If I'm not mistaken Jim Shooter wrote this particular story and it was uncharacteristically action & fight driven and as such is a welcome anomaly to the silver age Supergirl's narrative. Too bad Shooter was famously dismissive of super heroines and "legacy characters" he might have taken SG in an interesting direction as her prime scripture...
